Insurance
I am out of network with all insurance companies. Some insurance plans might reimburse you directly for out of network counseling services.
Benefits of paying out of pocket
By choosing to pay out of pocket for counseling, the work that you do in your sessions are kept confidential between you and your therapist, in other words, there is not the paper trail that is often required with insurance. Additionally, you are not limited to the number of sessions required by insurance. You will not have a mental health diagnosis attached to your health records, which can affect certain careers and life insurance policies. Please contact me for more info.
Cancellation Policy
If you ever need to cancel a scheduled therapy session, please do so at least 24 hours in advance. If you do not cancel a scheduled appointment with at least 24 hours notice, or if you fail to attend your scheduled appointment you will be expected pay a $150 cancellation fee.
Drawbacks to using INsurance
There are some drawbacks to using insurance. Most people have high deductible plans that they likely won't meet within the year. This means that going through your insurance might actually cost you more money out of pocket. Some insurance companies are not covering hour long sessions, and have a max number of sessions allowed. Additionally, if you were to use insurance there will be a medical paper trail, and you will need a mental health diagnosis in order for insurance to pay. Having a “mental health diagnosis” can affect life insurance policies and certain careers.
